They should be responsible for managing workers, coordinating with contractors, and maintaining quality standards throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety Management:
a) Enforce site safety protocols and regulations
b) Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks
c) Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
d) Monitor and maintain a hazard-free work environment
e) Report and investigate any safety incidents
2. Project Oversight:
a) Supervise dailyily construction activities
b) Monitor project progress against schedules
c) Coordinate work between different trades and contractors
d) Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications
e) Ensure work meets quality standards and project requirements
3. Resource Management:
a) Manage labor resources and assign tasks
b) Monitor material deliveries and inventory
c) Coordinate equipment usage and maintenance
d) Plan daily work schedules and activities
e) Track and report labor hours
4. Quality Control:
a) Inspect completed work for compliance with specifications
b) Identify and resolve construction defects
c) Maintain quality control documentation
d) Coordinate with quality inspectors and building officials
e) Ensure proper installation methods are followed
5. Administrative Duties:
a) Maintain daily site reports and logs
b) Document project progress through photos and written reports
c) Attend project meetings
d) Review and approve timesheets
e) Manage site documentation and permits
6. Stakeholder Communication:
a) Liaise with project managers, architects, and engineers
b) Communicate with clients and their representatives
c) Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers
d) Handle queries from local authorities
e) Report issues to senior management
Required Qualifications:
a) High school diploma (minimum); degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
b) 5+ years of construction experience
c) Strong knowledge of construction methods and building codes
d) Valid driver's license
e) OSHA safety certification
f) First aid certification
Technical Skills:
a) Reading and interpreting construction drawings
b) Knowledge of construction scheduling software
c) Understanding of building materials and methods
d) Familiarity with quality control procedures
e) Basic computer skills (MS Office, project management software)
Personal Qualities:
a) Strong leadership and team management abilities
b) Excellent problem-solving skills
c) Good communication skills (verbal and written)
d) Ability to work under pressure
e) Detail-oriented and organized
f) Physical ability to move around construction sites
Working Conditions:
a) Full-time position, often including early mornings
b) Outdoor work in various weather conditions
c) May require weekend or extended hours
d) Physical demands include walking, climbing, and standing for long periods
e) Travel between sites may be required
